About This Event:

The weather is cooler, autumn flowers are in full bloom, and nature is getting ready to go to sleep for the winter! Join the Cultivate and Create Youth Garden Club (CCYGC) for a fun morning of outdoor exploration in the Pollinator Haven Garden.

Designed for kids ages 4 and up (and perfect for homeschool families!), our monthly youth club focuses on cultivating confidence, community, and connection to nature. During this October meeting, young gardeners will take a guided walk through the late-season blooms, search for hardworking fall pollinators fueling up for migration or winter rest, and discover how plants and soil prepare for the cold months ahead.

What We’ll Do:

  • Autumn Garden Safari: Stroll through late-blooming native flowers like asters and goldenrod to spot bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects.
  • Winter Prep Secrets: Learn how plants, seeds, and soil organisms prepare to "go to sleep" for the season.
  • Scavenger Hunt & Observation: Practice hands-on scientific observation by tracking seed pods, changing leaves, and insect activity.
  • Family Connection: Connect with other local families and homeschoolers in a welcoming, hands-on outdoor setting.

Logistics & Arrival:

  • Where to Meet: Please park in the main lot and gather at the Garden Shed in the Pollinator Haven Garden by 9:25 AM.
  • Registration: Pre-registration is requested.
  • Payment: $5 per family.
  • What to Bring: Please dress for cooler outdoor weather, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle.
  • Weather Policy: Sessions run light rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, registered families will be notified via email.
