No children. No future. No hope.
Two decades on from its critically acclaimed release, four-time Academy Award winning director Alfonso Cuarón’s (Roma) Academy Award nominated dystopian thriller CHILDREN OF MEN returns to cinemas for a special anniversary screening.
When infertility threatens mankind with extinction and the last child born has perished, a disillusioned bureaucrat (Academy Award nominee Clive Owen) becomes the unlikely champion in the fight for the survival of Earth's population; He must face down his own demons and protect the planet's last remaining hope from danger.
CHILDREN OF MEN is a terrifying, exhilarating, and sickening portrait of the darkest corners of humanity, but one that inspires hope all the same. Featuring outstanding performances from an all-star cast, including Academy Award winner Julianne Moore, two-time Academy Award winner Michael Caine and Academy Award winner Chiwetel Ejiofor, CHILDREN OF MEN is an achingly, almost dreamily optimistic film in the face of such brutally cynical conditions, offering a humanist message that neutralizes political debate. Beautifully directed and magnificently crafted, it's a wrenching thriller in a grimy world of industrial decay, a distorted mirror of today in a palette of cement dust.
