Cull Yow** Choir - Autumn Taster Sessions
Join us for three introductory sessions for the Cull Yow Choir, a new, Frome-based community choir for women in the peri and post-menopause.
Our sessions are designed with musical merriment in mind. We'll learn how to sing a cappella harmonies, whilst mucking about with some beatboxing basics and body percussion. There'll be lots fooling around as we try things out and experiment with different ways of using our voices, our breathe and bodies to create different rhythms and sounds.
No previous experience of beatboxing, body percussion or singing in a choir is required.

The three sessions will take place:
- Mondays on September 28th, October 5th and October 12th
- 8.00 pm - 9.30 pm
- Christchurch Parish Hall, Park Road, Frome, BA11 1EU
- Cost: £12.00 for all three sessions*
We are offering the three sessions at a low cost* in return for your completion of a preliminary questionnaire before the first session (sent via email), and your completion of a feedback questionnaire at the end of the third session.
Both questionnaires will be brief (we promise!), and your feedback will help shape the Cull Yow Choir when it is fully launched in 2027.
The sessions will be lead by Riff Hunter. She has trained with Frankie Armstrong (Godmother of Natural Voice Singing), and Stephen Taberner (The Spooky Men's Chorale). Riff has also trained with Jack Salt (@jacksalt_beatbox), and she is a School of Comedy stand-up graduate (ninja training in fooling around and failing forwards fabulously).
* Free places - are available to a limited number of people who can help set up and clear up after each session. If you are interested in helping, please contact us via the email address below.
** Cull Yow - is the name given to a ewe when she can no longer breed, and she is set free to roam and graze in wooded pasture. The terrain is uneven and challenging, but she is rewarded with a sward that is rich and diverse, and her meat grows all the more nutritious and delicious as a result.
