About this Event
UPDATE DUE TO CHANGE IN INITIAL EVENT!!
Join the Forest Park Board of Health for our chill-est and cutest WBW yet! This time, we have an on-site collaboration with April’s Kittens of Forest Park and Cuddle Bunny of Chicago where folks will have the opportunity to experience either the relaxing effects of kitten-time, or bunny-time.
Petting small, furry mammals has been shown to have many beneficial emotional and physical effects, including triggering our bonding hormone and lowering our stress hormone. It can lower our blood pressure and heart rate, reduce pain, ease muscle tension and promote bone and tissue healing (via sound frequencies of purring, reduce stress and anxiety, raising feel-good chemicals and alter loneliness and depression, and aid in helping us to slow down and live in the present moment.
In between the cuteness, we will discuss a few tools to cope with anxiety, in those settings where we don’t have an animal to pet!!
This healing event will take place at April’s Kittens in Forest Park and tickets will offer the option of bunny time OR kitten time, based on limited space (and needing to keep the animals apart.) If you come with a buddy and want to swap halfway through, just alert the facilitators beforehand. Souvenirs from both businesses will be available.
This event is 18+. But feel free to return and attend either venue with the whole family!
