Friday 23rd October - gather 6.45 for 7pm Vigil at the gates in Redcross Way, London SE1The 269th consecutive monthly Vigil (held on the 23rd of every month since June 2004) to remember the outcast, dead and alive, to renew the shrine, and to reclaim the secret history as revealed by The Goose to John Crow.
This being our portal to Halloween / Samhain, along with our regular rituals (opening, holding the light, binding and loosing, offering, closing) we'll be observing some of the rituals for the dead traditionally associated with The Halloween of Crossbones, including this invocation which is usually recited as an echo / ripple prayer (as we do with 'Here lay your hearts, your flowers...')
Here, the veil between the worlds
dissolves:
the living, the dead
share the brew, break the bread.
Ancestor souls
converse and commune,
this samhain night,
by the light of a bone-
white
moon. *
Before &/or after reciting this as a group, we may be calling some of the names of the dead. You're welcome to call out &/or bring your own mementos or ribbons with the names of your lost loved ones to tie to the gates.
I have been especially asked that this month we remember Shelley Armitage and the other women of Bradford murdered by a psychopath: "for all that they were and might have been".
The Vigil at the shrine will be conducted by Jennifer. Those unable to attend in body, may wish to join us in spirit or online at the Zoom vigil hosted by Jacqui:
