Help Shape the Future of Crooked Palm Preserve
Crooked Palm is a unique property within Ventura Land Trust's portfolio, with important natural resources and a previously developed area that presents opportunities for thoughtful consideration. As we begin planning for the property's future, we want to understand how people have experienced Crooked Palm historically, what they value about the property, what concerns they have, and what they hope it can provide for the community in the future.
Join us for a Community Listening Day on Saturday, October 10th from 10 AM to 1 PM.
This is a casual, drop-in event. Stop by anytime during the event to:
- Share your experiences and memories of Crooked Palm
- Tell us what you value about the property
- Share ideas for its future
- Identify concerns or potential challenges
- Learn more about Ventura Land Trust's visioning process
- Complete a short community survey
No formal presentation is planned. This event is designed primarily as an opportunity for Ventura Land Trust to listen and learn from the community.
What Happens Next?
This event is the beginning of a longer community visioning process. Following the event, Ventura Land Trust will review and synthesize the ideas, experiences, and concerns we hear and use that feedback to help guide future planning.
We expect to hold additional opportunities for community input in 2027 as our thinking develops. These conversations may take different forms and will allow us to share what we are learning, explore potential ideas, and continue to hear from the community.
We don't have all the answers yet, and that's intentional. The future of Crooked Palm will be shaped over time through continued consideration of community input, the property's conservation values and physical characteristics, VLT's mission, and the opportunities and constraints associated with the site.
Community input will be an important part of this process, but participation does not guarantee that a particular idea, activity, or use will ultimately be incorporated into the property's long-term vision.
