About this Event

It's a critique night. But not just any critique night.

Manchester AiR is bringing two of its visiting artists, Wol-Un and Darbylyn Dawid, out of the studio and into the Bookery to host an open evening of honest conversation about art and process. One paints dead fish with unsettling precision. The other works in an ink tradition that is centuries old and refuses to stay that way. Both want to look at your work and talk about it.

Bring something you are working on, something finished, or just yourself. All levels welcome, all mediums welcome, no pretension.

Whether you want an honest eye on your work or just want to be in a room full of people who take creativity seriously, this is the night for it.

Free and open to the community!

About the Artist

Darby Dawid is an oil painter originally from New England and currently based in Brooklyn. Graduating from the School of Visual Arts in 2019, Darby has spent her career looking closely at the things most people look away from. Worms. Crustaceans. Fish. The wet, reflective, gloriously unglamorous creatures that exist just outside the edge of what we consider worthy of attention. Her work finds harmony in incongruency. A kind of quiet argument that nothing is beneath a second look.
