We are very excited to welcome the remarkable Cristina Rivera Garza for an evening of conversation with Octavia Bright at Lala Books, to celebrate the UK release of Cristina's book .
Cristina Rivera Garza is one of the most significant contemporary Mexican writers working today. Her books include , and , which won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Memoir and was a finalist for the National Book Award. She is also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship (known as the "Genius grant") and one of only two authors to win the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize twice.
Blending fiction, memoir, history and investigative writing, Autobiography of Cotton is a novel which traces Rivera Garza’s grandparents journey across mining towns and cotton fields, intersecting with Mexican writer and political activist José Revueltas in a vivid and evocative history of cotton cultivation along the Mexico-US border.
