Explore the Criminal Justice Minor
Explore criminal justice through an interdisciplinary lens connecting crime, law, investigations, human behavior, security, and the distinctive environments of aviation and aerospace. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide’s Criminal Justice minor offers two pathways, allowing students to pursue either an Aerospace Specialization or a flexible Focus Area tailored to their academic and professional interests.
Choose Your Path
Aerospace Specialization
Connect criminal justice principles directly to aviation and aerospace. Students build foundations in criminality and the legal system before studying aviation and aerospace law and selecting applied coursework in areas such as:
- Airborne law enforcement
- Aircraft accident investigation
- Aviation security
- Countering human trafficking
The specialization is designed for students interested in careers where criminal justice, law enforcement, security, investigations, and aviation or aerospace intersect.
Criminal Justice Focus Area
Build a broader interdisciplinary pathway around crime, justice, law, investigations, and human behavior. Following foundational study of criminality and the legal system, students can select coursework spanning areas such as:
- Courts and criminal justice
- International crime and criminal justice
- Investigative methods and forensic science
- Security investigations and interviewing
- Forensic accounting and fraud
- White-collar crime
- Victimology
- Drugs, society, and crime
- Human trafficking
- Cultural and behavioral dimensions of crime
What Will You Study?
Students explore criminal behavior and the institutions responsible for preventing, investigating, adjudicating, and responding to crime. Depending on the pathway selected, the minor can provide specialized exposure to legal systems, investigations, forensic methods, aviation security, aerospace law, victimology, financial crime, human trafficking, and behavioral dimensions of criminal justice.
Why Criminal Justice at Embry-Riddle?
This is not simply a traditional criminal justice minor. Its interdisciplinary design draws on Embry-Riddle Worldwide’s strengths in aviation, aerospace, homeland security, security and intelligence, emergency services, psychology, and applied social science. The Aerospace Specialization provides a particularly distinctive opportunity to examine criminal justice within aviation and aerospace environments, while the Focus Area allows students to build a pathway aligned with their individual interests and career goals.
