I'm hosting a writing retreat in December in Maryland, specifically for Jewish women. I'd be delighted if you could join, and grateful if you could share this with someone who might be interested. I know not all of you here are Jewish, but you have written with me in the past or expressed interest in writing, and you might know someone who is Jewish and would love to come. I'll be hosting several local retreats in the area for all in 2027. Stay tuned!
Retreat for Jewish Women Writers: Dec. 11-14, 2026: Creativity, Community and Sanctuary:
We’ve been here for a long time...5787 years this Rosh Hashana. We’ve seen it all - peace, war, strife, abundance, success, loss, atrocities, hatred, love, service, science, revenge, forgiveness, art, literature, beauty, a messiah, not a messiah, a man others took to be their messiah. It’s all a bit complicated, isn’t it. But here we are. Still here, despite so many obstacles. Despite so many times being forced to move. Losing our land and homes. Others losing their land and homes. Expulsions. Retribution. And yet we persist. We exist. We thrive. We don’t do this alone. We do this in community.
Come write with me December 11-14 at Zigbone Farm Retreat in Maryland. Let’s explore what it means to be a Jewish woman today, through our writing, through sharing, through talking and through not talking and not sharing - just being. Actually, you don’t need to write anything about being Jewish or even vaguely Jewish. It’s just about being together. Exhaling together. Not explaining ourselves, together.
I searched high and low for a Jewish writing retreat to participate in, but I didn’t find one that suited me. The few that I found were religious. This one is not. And it’s not kosher either, although the food, by Veggie Annie, will be delicious and vegetarian.
Contact me at [email protected] to sign up. The retreat is filling up, and I would love to make sure everyone who wants to come gets a room. This retreat is for writers of all levels, from novices to published authors. It’s a chance to explore our unique place in the world without worry, without censure. I hope to make this an annual event. Be a part of the first one.
