About this Event
Curious Young Creatives, delivered by Curious Arts, gives young people the opportunity to develop their artistic skills, create high-quality work alongside professional artists, and explore their creativity in a welcoming space where they can express themselves with pride.
We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Difference North East to bring a special creative youth workshop to this year’s Disability History Month programme. Led by talented artist Victoria Doyle, this hands-on session will explore disabled queer history, identity and visibility through banner making.
Taking inspiration from portraiture, protest banners and the stories of disabled queer people who have helped shape history, you’ll experiment with colour, imagery, words and symbols to create a bold statement that represents who you are, what matters to you and what you want the world to see.
For ages 11 - 15 years old.
Disability History: Past, Present, Future is a Difference North East project marking Disability History Month across the North East. It explores the history, activism and rights of Disabled people. It connects historical struggles to the barriers that remain in your lives. It highlights disabled-led action shaping your communities now. And it argues for a future where inclusion and equality are the default and not a battleground.
