Creative Writing Workshop: How to Write a Cosy M**der Mystery at Warwick Library
‘Cosy crime’ stories have been popular for a century and more. There have been many mystery writers over the years, and Agatha Christie was of course one of the best known – but wouldn’t you like to try your hand at writing one?
This is a fun and friendly workshop to help you to:
• Create an intriguing detective, whether amateur or professional
• Understand the ‘rules’ for writing this type of fiction
• Design a plot that draws your reader in
• Imagine a suitable setting for your story
• Conclude your story in a satisfying way.
There will be easy and enjoyable exercises and opportunity to read out your work if you wish to. This workshop is suitable for writers at all levels, including beginners.
This event is great for:
- Enjoying a relaxed, welcoming way to have fun with your writing.
- Building your confidence as a writer in a supportive, friendly environment
- Developing your storytelling skills in a way that feels accessible and encouraging
- Gaining inspiration and motivation to keep writing long after the session ends
- Discovering what our libraries offer
This event is also to celebrate our travelling Agatha Christie exhibition which will be touring round libraries in Warwickshire from 23rd October 2026. Find out more about the exhibition on our website.
