A wound. A smell. Something under the skin. Something beautiful beginning to decay. A thought we would rather not have had.
For October, The Writer’s Room is stepping into the uncomfortable.
Not simply to shock, but to explore what fear, disgust, vulnerability and the physical body can reveal about being human.
What happens when beauty becomes strange?
Why are some of the things that repel us also impossible to stop thinking about?
Through guided writing, we’ll explore the places where discomfort becomes story.
Fiction, memoir, autofiction, journaling and hybrid writing are all welcome.
No pressure to write autobiographically.
No pressure to share.
Bring a notebook, pen, curiosity, and a reasonably strong stomach.
