About this Event
Taking place alongside the 8th John Ruskin Prize exhibition, this symposium responds to the theme ‘Patience in Looking, Truth in Making’, exploring the relationship between observation and creation, and the journey from what we see to what we make.
The day will offer an inclusive and dynamic exploration of creative practice, with drawing positioned alongside wider acts of making. Through a mix of talks, conversations and practical sessions, we’ll hear from artists, designers and practitioners working across disciplines, and take part in shared activities that explore looking, thinking and creating together.
Participants will also have the opportunity to view the 8th John Ruskin Prize exhibition as part of the day, using the exhibition as a shared point of reference for discussion, reflection and making.
The symposium will be hosted at The King’s Foundation, based at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The speakers will be announced in January.

Open to artists, designers, educators, students and anyone with an interest in drawing, visual thinking and making - no specialist experience required. Recommended for adults and young people aged 16+.
What to bring
Please bring a sketchbook and pencils. Some specific materials will also be provided.
