About this Event
Trainer: Angela Whitecross, Programme Manager - Creative Health at GMCA.
This training introduces Creative Health in Greater Manchester and how creativity, culture and heritage can support Live Well’s ambition for healthier, happier and more connected communities.
It sets out Greater Manchester’s ambition to become the world’s first Creative Health City Region and outlines the work of the GM Creative Health Place Partnership, delivered with GMCA, NHS Greater Manchester, local authorities, cultural organisations, the VCFSE sector and academic partners.
In this session we will consider creative health as part of a wider system, linking health, care, culture and communities to support prevention, address health inequalities, strengthen neighbourhood-based working and improve wellbeing across the life course, drawing on examples from across Greater Manchester.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the evidence base for creative health, examples of best practice, and how creative health approaches can be applied locally through partnership working, community assets and practical examples that support residents’ wellbeing across the life course.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand what is meant by creative health and why it matters.
- Be familiar with the Greater Manchester Creative Health Strategy and existing programmes of work underpinning the strategy.
- Understand creative health as a system-wide approach that connects health, care, culture, communities and public services.
- Understand the links between creative health, Live Well, neighbourhood health and prevention.
- Explore examples of creative health programmes and their impact on health and wellbeing.
- Gain knowledge of the evidence base and best practice that supports creative health approaches.
