About this Event
Creative Therapy in Nature: Make Your Own Talisman
Join us for a grounding and creative experience connecting nature, intuition and self-expression.
A talisman is an object that is thought to have magical powers and to bring good luck.
We will begin with a guided meditation to help you access your inner power and connect with your inner guide. Through this reflective practice, you’ll explore the qualities, energy and presence of this inner force.
We will use mindfully foraged natural materials such as twigs, leaves, plants and flowers, as well as found objects, recycled from old draws, cabinets and scrapyards.
Using these foraged elements, you’ll create your own talisman; a personal object that represents your inner power and guide. This process is intuitive and open, allowing your creativity to flow freely.
To close, there is an invitation to share your talisman with the group, infusing the object with intention and energy.
This workshop is open to all with no prior experience needed. Simply bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore.
Leave with a unique, handcrafted talisman and a deeper connection to your inner guidance and strength.
Strength can be found in less obvious places that are often overlooked. When you don’t feel like you have a power in your life, you can use the talisman to bring you back to you inner strength.
What to Expect
Every session includes:
- A grounding exercise to get back in touch with yourself and the present moment.
- A guided art-making experience using natural and recycled materials.
- Time for reflection and optional sharing, supported with care and respect.
- Art work to take home at the end of the session.
The focus is not on creating “beautiful” art, but on experiencing the process, listening to what emerges and allowing meaning to unfold naturally.
Why Arts Therapy?
Art-making engages the senses and invites reflection in a gentle, non-verbal way. It can support:
- Emotional awareness and regulation
- A more compassionate relationship with yourself
- Insight into patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours
- Creative problem-solving and resilience
This group is especially well-suited for those who value depth, creativity and personal growth in a supportive community setting.
Who This Is For
- Adults seeking a nurturing space for self-exploration and community support.
- For those seeking connection with others and their creativity in nature.
- Those curious about arts therapy or expressive practices
- Anyone wanting to slow down, reflect and reconnect
No prior art experience is required. All materials are provided.
Come as you are. Leave with a little more clarity, softness and connection than when you arrived.
Facilitated With Care
Co-hosted by Katy (she/Her), an artist and designer who interprets identity, consciousness, society and the environment through commentary on seemingly insignificant and overlooked materials and their ability to articulate human stories. She makes sculptures and accessories from waste objects that are found tucked into the corners of the home or pavement. Driven by the emotional and environmental impact of excessive amounts of ‘stuff’, her work draws on the intricacy in the aesthetics of overflow, spillage and mess; resonating with this as a more accurate representation of our lives, fears and longings than imposed societal expectations of perfection in inner and outer life. She has completed a residency and solo show with The Sarabande Alexander McQueen foundation, worked with activist groups such as Fashion Revolution and held workshops with the Saatchi Gallery, The Islington Climate Centre and The Lab E20.
Co-hosted by Emily (she/them) (PGDip, BA, Msc) a psychotherapist and artist with experience working in the NHS and non-profits, supporting people predominantly from the Global Majority, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent individuals, with 8 years of experience running therapeutic art groups. Offering a warm, grounded presence and clear structure, ensuring a warm and nurturing group experience.
Nobody will be turned away due to limited funds, please reach out to us if you would like to attend but struggling to cover the costs.
