About the Exhibition:
Creative Confluence: The Origins of Abstract Art in Colorado, 1946-1960 celebrates a pivotal, often-overlooked chapter in American art history.
Timed to the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood, this landmark exhibition reveals how the state's dramatic landscapes, pioneering colleges, and postwar influx of GI Bill artists converged to fuel a distinct abstract art movement. Featuring seminal works by Vance Kirkland, Herbert Bayer, Janet Lippincott, Emerson Woelffer, and others, the exhibition captures a brief, electric era of experimentation whose legacy still resonates in contemporary art today.
