Create a personalized holiday card using your own photographs and the creative possibilities of Adobe Firefly. In this hands-on workshop, Michelle Rae Sobi will guide you through transforming a favorite photograph into a festive image to share with family and friends. Explore how AI-assisted image tools can help you imagine a seasonal setting, experiment with backgrounds, and bring your holiday vision to life.
Bring a few high-quality digital photographs you would like to practice with, along with three reference images that capture your preferred setting, colors, or mood. Think snowy gardens, twinkling lights, winter greenery, or a cozy holiday room. Your reference images will help inspire a digital setting, much as you might choose a backdrop for a photography session.
Students will work toward completing an image ready to send to a printer for their holiday cards. Michelle will provide individual guidance throughout the workshop. If your image needs additional finishing afterward, she will help complete it and deliver your card image within 48 hours of the workshop.
Please bring a charged laptop, your digital photographs and reference images, and access to Adobe Firefly.
Don’t have the gear? Bring a thumb drive with your high-resolution photographs and reference images to work with Michelle on her laptop. Beginners are welcome.
Tuition: $75 per student, including assistance finishing one image within 48 hours of the workshop.
Michelle studied digital arts with UC Berkeley and is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge with her students. She works in small groups to ensure close mentorship and personal attention.

2:00–2:15 pm | Welcome & Holiday Card Inspiration

2:15–2:35 pm | Getting Started with Adobe Firefly
Info: Follow a guided demonstration of uploading a photograph, describing a seasonal setting, and experimenting with backgrounds.
2:35–3:15 pm | Create Your Holiday Image
Info: Work with your photographs to explore settings, colors, and composition. Michelle will provide individual guidance as you develop your image.
3:15–3:40 pm | Refine Your Design
Info: Review your results and make adjustments to bring your holiday vision together. Students using Michelle’s laptop will receive guided time to work on their images.
3:40–4:00 pm | Save Your Image & Plan for Printing
Info: Prepare your finished image for your preferred printer, ask final questions, and arrange any finishing assistance needed. Images requiring additional help will be delivered within 48 hours of the workshop.
