Join textile artist Kate for an inspiring, hands-on creative workshop where you’ll design and make a beautiful illuminated lamp using Lutradur, decorative textile techniques, and simple sewn electronics.

Kate will provide:
Lutradur sheets
Artist paint sticks (Markal sticks)
Acrylic paints & brushes
Heat gun
Soldering iron
Electronic components for sewn circuits
Templates and printed fabric birds
There are a few bits and pieces you will need to bring on the day, detailed requirments will be provided in advance. The main thing though is to bring your creativity!
About the Tutor – Kate
Kate is a self-employed textile artist and teacher with a background in industrial textiles and many years’ experience teaching Art and Design Technology. Her work has been exhibited widely and internationally, including a major body of textile art inspired by the Large Hadron Collider.
More recently, Kate’s work has focused on wildlife, birds, landscapes, and woodland, creating beautifully detailed textile pieces. She travels across the UK delivering talks and workshops, sharing her passion for textiles, mixed media, and e-textiles.
Kate’s workshops are known for being inspiring, friendly, and packed with creative techniques, suitable for both beginners and experienced makers.

Good to know:
The venue has parking. Upon arrival, park in the car park at the front of the shop. Unload your vehicle into your classroom. Staff will then advise you where to park your car for the day at the rear of the complex.
There is disabled parking and ramps allowing access to all areas. There is a disabled toilet.
Staff will help anyone in need of assistance. Shop on site selling an enormous range of goods relating to crafting: dressmaking, patchwork & quilting, knitting & crochet, sewing machines and furniture.
There is a coffee shop on site called O for Coffee. Attendees at our classes are visited by coffee shop staff regularly throughout the day to take any orders. Anything consumed during your day is sold at a 10% discount. As well as a large choice of hot and cold drinks, the menu comprises savoury choices including sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups. For those with a sweet tooth, there is a selection of cakes and scones made in-house with gluten-free and vegan options.
