About this Event
This art class is planned at the perfect post-nap time for little ones, and after school time for full-day preschool or kindergarteners. Kids will color for the first 10 minutes of class while everyone settles in, then we'll work on two themed crafts, with a brain-break (usually a storytime) in between.
The lesson plans are designed with 2.5-5-year olds in mind, but class is open to children of all ages. Smocks are provided on days we'll be painting, but please dress your child in clothes that you won't mind getting messy.
Steam Engines Learning Co believes in learning environments and lesson plans that are grounded in evidence-based practices, which means we focus on activities and approaches shown by research to support children's development and learning. For example, studies show that an elementary-aged child's ability to understand algebra concepts can be predicted by their understanding of patterns and symmetry in toddler years, so these are often included in lesson plans/ art projects. In this class, children also work on categorizing, spatial skills, and drawing comparisons, among other important, age-appropriate skills.
