About this Event
We’re going beyond the usual Raleigh landmarks to explore the people, places, and stories that shaped Black Raleigh.
Join us for an afternoon of history, connection, and discovery as we take a guided walking tour through some of Raleigh’s most significant Black cultural and historic sites.
Our experience will include a guided tour of the Pope House Museum led by Hazel Boomer, Pope House Manager, along with stops and conversations connected to:
- 🏛️ Dr. M.T. Pope House
- 🎭 Lincoln Theatre
- 🎓 Shaw University
- 📍 Other historic sites connected to Black life, leadership, culture, and community in Raleigh
This isn't just about learning names and dates.
It's about understanding the people who built, led, created, educated, organized, and shaped the city we know today.
We'll walk, learn, ask questions, share stories, and connect the dots between Raleigh's past and the community we are building today.
Because knowing where we come from helps us better understand who we are.
Come explore our roots with the Cousins. 🖤
