Join us for our next Corridor Connect+ webinar, “The Flow of Conservation”, on Friday, October 23rd from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as we follow water on a journey across the Florida Wildlife Corridor. We’ll begin near the Florida-Georgia border, where Okefenokee Swamp Park’s Executive Director Kim Bednarek will share the success story behind securing UNESCO World Heritage recognition for this extraordinary, shared swamp.
From there, we’ll follow Tallahassee City Commissioner Jack Porter and the 2026 Longleaf to Lighthouse Expedition through the landscapes and communities of north Florida that are very much shaped by water.
Next, Corridor Foundation Conservation Director Kristen Blanton Nowak, PWS and Del Schwalls, PE, CFM, Associate Planning Director for the FLORIDA FLOODPLAIN MANAGERS ASSOCIATION INC will then take us to Ridge Manor to explore how strategic conservation can reduce flooding and promote compatible living while strengthening wildlife connectivity.
Finally, Southwest Florida Water Management District Florida Water Management District wildlife ecologist and award-winning conservation photographer Mark Cook, Ph.D. will end the journey in the Everglades with science and award-winning photography of mangroves, birds, water, and a changing coastline.
Together, these stories reveal the central truth that protecting connected lands also means protecting the movement, quality, and resilience of water.
