About this Event

We are delighted to invite you to our 2026 Annual Conference on Friday 6th November! Registration on the day will start at 09:30, with the opening remarks beginning at 10:00. This year marks Cornwall Community Flood Forum's 15th Conference, and we hope it will be a day to remember!

Our conference will be held in the Pavilion Centre at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge. We encourage as many as people as possible to join us in person as you will be able to view the various stands and network throughout the day. We have changed the format to include interactive sessions and discussion time amongst the presentations. Free refreshments and lunch will be provided for all those attending in person. Alternatively, you are welcome to join us virtually for engaging talks from a variety of speakers on all things flooding.

The theme for this year's conference is 'Going with the Flow: Community Action for a Flood-Resilient Future'. There will be a particular focus on what practical actions communities can take to slow the flow of water and how we can work with nature to reduce the risk of flooding. We are delighted to offer speakers from a wide range of organisations.

  • Dave Kennedy and Tom Dauben from the Environment Agency will start the day with interesting project case studies of nature-based solutions to reduce the risk of flooding. The conference will premiere a brand-new creature-comforts style animated Natural Flood Management film, created by Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Cumbria Innovative Flood Resilience project! Check out the films they have already made: Animated Films Highlight Nature’s Role in Flood Management and Climate Resilience | Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
  • Emma Holroyde from FloodRe will run an exciting interactive workshop where we will consider how we can make our gardens more flood resilient.
  • We will hear from Liza Oxford from Building Resilience in Communities about the adopt a drain scheme.
  • Harriet Freestone from JBA Consulting will talk about what Property Flood Resilience is and give local examples of how it can be used to protect your home. Hear from CCFF’s Trustee, Janet Lockyer, who has installed Property Flood Resilience.
  • Dr Alan Puttock from the University of Exeter, Cheryl Marriott from Cornwall Wildlife Trust, and Chris Jones from the Cornwall Beaver Project will tell us all about how beavers and associated nature-based solutions can help to reduce our flood risk.
  • Rhys Hobbs from Cornwall Council will wrap up the learnings from the Making Space for Sand project.

A full agenda can be found at the bottom of this text.

We will have an array of displays on hand at the Royal Cornwall Showground for you to engage with.

Please note it is important to select the correct ticket type upon checkout, as we require different information from you depending on how you will be joining us on the day! Please only choose either an in-person or online ticket.

We look forward to welcoming you to our conference! For any questions, please email [email protected] or phone 07355 598858.
