The Cornell Chorale’s Fall 2026 concert, “Seasons of Life,” takes inspiration from the changing seasons as a reflection of the different stages and experiences of human life. Through shifts in musical character, color, and mood, the program traces a journey through moments of awakening, joy, love, faith, reflection, peace, and hope.
The repertoire draws from a wide range of musical and cultural traditions and features composers and arrangers with roots in Austria, Slovenia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United States. The program ranges from Joseph Haydn’s Classical tradition to contemporary choral music, African American spiritual and gospel traditions, and music connected to Asian cultures. “Ana Tupa Tu (Moonlight),” based on a song by Taiwanese Indigenous Bunun musician Biung and arranged by Filipino composer Saunder Choi, brings another distinctive cultural voice to this journey.
The concert will also welcome Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Professor Emeritus at the University of Southern California and former National President of the American Choral Directors Association, as guest conductor. Through its changing colors, moods, and traditions, “Seasons of Life” reflects how our lives continually move through periods of growth, celebration, change, reflection, and renewal.
