Advocates will rally at U.S. Forest Service headquarters to promote protection of mature and old-growth forests and keeping fossil fuels in the ground
WildEarth Guardians and our allies from New Mexico and Arizona are rallying in front of the U.S. Forest Service Region 3 headquarters in Albuquerque to deliver petitions, letters, and personal calls to action calling on the Biden administration and U.S. Forest Service to stop logging mature and old-growth forests, and enact a rule to ensure their protection. Saving these forests and also stopping the sacrifice of public lands for fossil fuel drilling and leasing are crucial steps to address the climate crisis. Holding signs and large banners, representatives of local groups will deliver speeches related to local climate action.
The rally is part of a national two-week action during which climate and forest activists are gathering at U.S. Forest Services offices throughout the country urging the Biden administration to stop logging mature and old-growth forests, not only to help address the climate crisis, but to ensure forests continue providing clean water and crucial habitat for imperiled plants and animals.
