About this Event
Have you ever wondered why your cilantro always dies in July or why your lettuce greens are bitter in May? This talk will answer those questions and more.
Learn how to grow a bountiful garden all winter long here in Zone 8. Because of our mild and short winters here in coastal North Carolina, October-March are perfect months for growing a wide variety of leafy greens, root veggies, and cool season herbs.
In this talk we will walk you through choosing crops to grow, how to start them, and how to protect them from cold snaps and freezing temps. Unlock a whole new growing season and see how vibrant your garden can be over winter.
You'll head home with a handout summarizing the key points of the presentation along with some suggested reading for additional information.
We recommend you bring the following items:
- Comfortable, closed toe shoes
- Sunhat and/or sunglasses (if you are sensitive)
- Curiosity and questions
This talk is open to all ages! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
This is a rain-or-shine event.
