Join us for two big events on Saturday, October 10! RSVP on our website by Oct. 1, and we hope to see you at one or both! Please read important details below. RSVP: https://coolgreentrees.org/events/First, join us from 9–11 a.m. for our inaugural Cool Green Trees Advisory Council Tree Planting: Growing a Cooler BHM in Lakeview! We need volunteers to help us plant 50 native trees along the streets of this bustling business and entertainment district in Birmingham. Our goal is to highlight our amazing Advisory Council members and make this an annual fundraising event, kicking off fall tree-planting season to ensure our program continues for years to come.
*Plan to come early (around 8:30) to find parking as this will take place while the Pepper Place Farmers Market is also happening. Space is limited, and this will be our only volunteer opportunity open to the public this fall!
Address: Meet us on 29th St. S. between 3rd & 4th Ave. S. near Mayawell
Age Requirement: 18+ or minors accompanied by a parent/guardian/chaperone
What to Bring: Wear long pants, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and closed-toed shoes for safety. Bring water to stay hydrated.
This event is rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, we will reschedule and notify those who registered as quickly as possible.
Thank you to our sponsors: Goodwyn Mills Cawood, Birmingham Sunrise Rotary, Sherry and David Armistead, Rojo, Mark Wilson and Marian Wilson, and Lydia Marcus
Second (we will create a separate Facebook event for this), anyone who has ever volunteered with us and organizations who have partnered with us are invited to our first Rooted in Community: Volunteer & Community Appreciation Event from 12-2 p.m. that day at High Dive Bham and Lakeview Marina, Birmingham! 🎉
Food and beverages will be provided for our volunteers and community partners. We’ll also have a short awards ceremony as a thank-you for some special volunteers and partners, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you! Thank you to our sponsor High Dive Hifi Lounge!
We are truly grateful for every one of you, and we plan to make this an annual event to show our appreciation. It takes a village!
Got a group who can join us? Email us at [email protected]. Space is limited—please RSVP on our website linked above by October 1 for either or both events!
Funding provided, in part, by the Forest Service, an agency of the US Dept. of Agriculture, Urban and Community Forestry Program. Cool Green Trees is a program of Cawaco RC&D, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and an equal opportunity provider, and is also supported by the Jefferson County Department of Health.
