About this Event
Hotline volunteers answer our 24/7 hotline from their personal cell phones (it is a ring-to number, meaning callers do not know to which phone the hotline rings) and provide crisis intervention, connections to resources, and generally programmatic support. There are day, evening (8:30a-5p or 5p-8:30a), and weekend shifts (5pm on Friday until 8:30am Monday morning). Volunteers always have the support of a staff member who can provide support/guidance/assistance.
Volunteers will receive training before operating the hotline. The training will cover human trafficking 101, recruitment and control methods, red flags and identifiers, safety planning, impact of trauma and effective engagement with survivors. We will also go over specifics for the various volunteer positions.
*Volunteer Training attendance does not guarantee a volunteer position within the STOP-IT Program. A goodness-of-fit interview and assessment are required for all direct service volunteers.
Please know that in order to ensure we cover all the necessary content, there will be some 'homework' in the form of videos, articles or pre-recorded webinars. Additionally, you will have to pass a background check and complete a Safe From Harm training prior to volunteering.
This Volunteer Training session will be held in-person on two consecutive Saturdays: January 16th & 23rd from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Attendance for both days is required to volunteer with the program.
If you are interested in volunteering with the STOP-IT Program, please register by Monday, December 28th.
Please contact the Volunteer Manager at [email protected] with questions.
