About this Event
Migration is as ubiquitous as air and water. From the beginning of time, living beings have moved from one place to another.
In his book “The Mosaic Myth: The Social Integration of Newcomers to Canada”, Domenic Diamante explores migration, multiculturalism and the so called Canadian mosaic as well as various concepts of integration.
In this moderated discussion, we will explore together issues such as:
- What is our identity? - why are we of italian background the way we are?
- How have we integrated and are still integrating into Canadian society in the context of our particular cultural heritage?
- To what objective or ultimate end do we integrate?
- Ought we to strive toward a visible positive recognition of Italian culture within the greater community?
- What are the obstacles to achieve the above noted objective and how might they overcome in the modern world of globalization and homogeneity?
