About this Event
Beaujolais has spent centuries being misunderstood—from Gamay Noir’s banishment from Burgundy to the commercial legacy of Beaujolais Nouveau. But beyond those familiar wines lies a region capable of producing remarkably complex, age-worthy, and world-class wines.
In this Conversation in Burgundy, we’ll look beyond Beaujolais Nouveau and explore the ten Crus of Beaujolais, where diverse granite, diorite, and alluvial soils; varied elevations and exposures; and thoughtful cellar techniques let Gamay Noir express itself in strikingly different ways.
From ethereal and haunting to dark, structured, and cellar-worthy, Cru Beaujolais offers a remarkable range of styles and often at remarkably accessible prices.
We’ll taste wines from four important producers while exploring the grape, geology, winemaking, and distinct personalities that make Cru Beaujolais one of Burgundy’s most compelling and overlooked underdogs.
