CONTENT CREATOR WORKSHOP - FOR BEGINNERS Create your own content for social media. Learn to create talking-head videos: podcast, short, online course, explainer video and more...
About this Event
Beginner Content Creation Workshop

What it is: a one-day, hands-on workshop in our Bedford studio, where you plan, script and record your own 2–3 minute talking-head video. A talking-head video is simply you on camera, talking straight to your audience, the way most YouTube videos, podcast clips and Instagram reels work.

No ideas, no gear and no clue where to start? Good, that's where everyone starts. By 6pm you'll have recorded a real video in a real studio.

Who is it for?

Complete beginners with something to say and no idea how to say it on camera. Whether it's a podcast intro, a YouTube video, a short, a mini-documentary or a course lesson, you make the thing you actually want to make.

What you get

No experience needed. We explain everything step by step, from the first idea to the published video.

  • Ideas: turn one word into 30 video ideas and leave creator's block behind.
  • Research: how to research a topic properly, from social media all the way to books.
  • Tone of voice: how not to sound like generic AI slop, and how to sound like yourself instead.
  • Scripting: go from idea to finished script in about an hour.
  • Recording: YOU, on camera, talking, with or without the teleprompter.
  • Equipment: cameras, mics, lights, soft boxes and backgrounds, and you get your hands on all of it.
  • Editing, titles, animations and publishing: learn the whole process, start to finish.

Before the day

Come prepared with a rough script, or at least an outline, for the video you want to record. It doesn't need to be perfect, because we'll sharpen it together on the day. Recording is what you came for, and we don't want to rush it.

AGENDA
The day
Morning: research and script

This is our real process, the same one we use for our own videos, with nothing watered down.

  1. Find your idea. Start with a topic you care about, like money, happiness or fitness. Our automated social media research workflows break it down and find what people are already searching for and watching, so you leave with 30 video ideas to choose from.
  2. See what works on social media. Learn which videos win and why: the format, the length, the words people search for, and the channels worth stealing from.
  3. Build your reference library. Collect the best videos in your niche, with their transcripts, into a library you'll come back to every time you plan a new video.
  4. Find the best books on your topic. Good videos come from good sources, not AI guesswork, so you get a reading list of 3–5 books with the best one to start with marked.
  5. Pull the ideas out of a book. We show you how we use a free Google AI tool to pull out the ideas, stories and examples and see how they connect. It's a demo, because it takes longer than a day allows, but you'll learn exactly how it's done.
  6. Find your voice. AI on its own sounds generic, but your script doesn't have to. Pick a few creators or writers you like, or your own past work, and we turn that style into a simple guide so your script sounds like you and not a robot.
  7. Write your script. AI drafts it from your research and your voice guide, and you push back until it's right. Or you write it yourself.

Lunch
Afternoon: make the video
  1. Record your video. You record your 2–3 minute video with a 4K camera, studio sound and studio lighting, using the teleprompter, bullet points or no script at all. Three or four takes is normal, and it usually takes about half an hour. We coach you on speech, pace and presence. Feel like an impostor? Everyone does, so do it anyway.
  2. Try the gear. Learn how to choose a camera, a mic and lights, and how to build a home studio. Then get your hands on the lights, soft boxes, mics, cameras and backgrounds, and take the cheat sheets home.
  3. Edit your video. Learn how we cut a video from start to finish: taking out the mistakes, cleaning up the sound and choosing the right software. Follow along on your laptop if you have editing software installed.
  4. Add titles and animations. Learn how to add moving text, titles and simple animations. Our system does most of the work: you describe your style and it builds the animations for you.
  5. Publish. Get your video out there on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and podcast platforms.

You'll see our full process, exactly as we use it. Some steps are demos, simply because one day isn't enough to install software for everyone. If you want to run it all yourself, book a one-to-one session or join the advanced workshop.
