About this Event
Contemporary Art Workshop with Rucha Kulkarni: Held, Not Counted.
Join us for an in-person workshop with contemporary artist Rucha Kulkarni. Against the backdrop of the show, "Choreographies of compliance: Between Acceptance and Allowance" by Razia Barsatie and Rucha Kulkarni. This workshop invites participants to reimagine time as a currency of care—a labour of love that remains largely unaccounted for within monetary systems, yet quietly sustains homes, relationships, and society at large.
Participants are asked to bring a piece of fabric associated with an unpaid, unofficial responsibility they have carried—work that is often emotionally charged and deeply embodied. It can be part of an old outfit, a kitchen towel, something from a family member, an unfinished project or a leftover scarf.
During the workshop and through a quiet, shared dialogue, personal narratives will unfold, mapping an overlooked ecosystem of care and contribution. During the workshop we will make sublimation prints on participant’s fabrics, marking time not as hours spent (currency of time) but as presence.
All the fabrics will eventually be assembled into flags - inspired by Tibetan prayer flags - as a co-creation. Suspended in space, these flags will entrust their stories to the wind, offering intimate acts of care to a universal consciousness—where private labour will become collective memory.
Don't miss this chance to connect and co-create and have fun, in a safe, inspiring space.
