What happens when you give yourself time to create — with nothing to prove and nothing to get right?
ConnectPLAY is a six-week facilitated experience for adults to explore creativity, play and self-expression alongside other people.
Over six Saturday afternoons, we'll explore through:
• Improv and theatre games
• Movement
• Writing and journalling
• Creative exercises
• Collaboration and connection
You don't need to identify as creative. You don't need to be good at improv, writing or movement. You don't need to be funny or talented.
There is no performance at the end. This is a space to explore.
Some things might feel easy. Some might feel a little ridiculous. Some might bring you to the edge of your comfort zone.
You are always the owner of your body and your participation. I'm committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where you can listen to your own needs while also being gently encouraged to lean into curiosity when you're able.
All I ask is that you come keen to participate and willing to listen to and support the other people sharing the room with you.
Because this isn't the place to get it right.
It's a place to try. To make mistakes. To be silly. To create something simply because you want to create it.
About your facilitator
I'm Jennifer Cannon, a Therapeutic Arts Practitioner, actor, improviser and facilitator.
I became a Therapeutic Arts Practitioner after experiencing the healing benefits of the arts in my own life. The arts gave me community, a voice and a way to express myself.
Iimprov taught me that it's okay to try something and fail. That I can look silly, make mistakes and the world won't end. They've taught me how to show up and support others, to be patient, and that an idea can become even better when more minds are involved.
I enjoy creating spaces where people are able to express themselves freely, are supported by the people around them, and can make mistakes without being ostracized — spaces where we discover what becomes possible because we're together.
