Join the School of Humanities and Languages at this Masterclass by Professor David Coury, University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, US
About this Event

This practical Masterclass will introduce HDR students to successful community-engaged Humanities initiatives, including the work of the Centre for Civic Engagement at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. It will explore community-based learning, partnerships with local organisations and lifelong learning initiatives, and the ways in which civic engagement can connect Humanities research with the broader public.

Participants will identify potential community partners relevant to their own disciplines and institutions and develop a preliminary civic engagement project. They will share their project plans, receive feedback and leave with practical strategies that could be implemented within their own programs or potentially with a future employer. The workshop will also provide ideas for integrating civic engagement into Humanities courses, building sustainable community partnerships and developing an action plan tailored to their own institution
