About this Event
PAJÉ MATSINI's Background and Lineage
He comes from an unbroken lineage of pajés and was named after an uncle who was also a shaman. He trained from a young age under the legendary elder Pajé Tatá (Tata), who played a major role in restoring Yawanawá spiritual traditions after decades of suppression during contact, the rubber boom, and missionary influence. The Yawanawá (Pano linguistic family, “people of the wild boar”) live along the Gregório River in the Terra Indígena Rio Gregório, Acre, Brazilian Amazon. They nearly faced extinction but have experienced a strong cultural and population recovery since the 1980s.
Spiritual Path and Practice
Matsini completed the demanding year-long muká diet (a core shamanic initiation involving strict isolation, specific plant diets, and spiritual training) at a young age—around 17–18—making him one of the youngest in recent generations to do so. He became a pajé around that age and later completed the rare Yuvé Shupa (Trombeta) diet, described in some accounts as the only person in modern times to have done so.
During this event Pajé Matsini will share the Yawanawa people philosophy of life and their vision for the future of the planet.
You will have the opportunity to hear native live music and songs from his Daughters and Son. Those songs are called Saiti. They have been transmitted thru generations. It is a unique experience to witness the vibration and the love they carry with them.
