Please join us for a captivating recital of duos for violin and viola, blending classical elegance of Bach’s baroque brilliance with modern charm of Brydern’s beagle-inspired bebop, enjoy a journey through centuries of musical imagination.
Violinist Vanessa Brooks-White and violist Charis Morgan are a dynamic London-based duo whose performances combine expressive artistry with an infectious love of chamber music. Vanessa, a German-born musician with British and Canadian roots, holds degrees from the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has appeared as concerto soloist and recitalist across the UK, performing in venues such as the Barbican, Kings Place, and Winchester Cathedral, and freelances with ensembles including the Bliss Sinfonia and Sheffield Repertoire Orchestra. Charis, a graduate of the Royal College of Music, enjoys a varied career as a performer and educator, appearing with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Brixton Chamber Orchestra, and the BBC Singers, and performing at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. The duo formed in early 2024 and have since performed together at Great Bowden Music Fest, Lumos Live Candlelight Concerts, and now bring their vibrant partnership to the London Sketch Club.

Biographies:
Charis Morgan (viola)
London-based violist and music educator Charis is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and an active performer across a wide range of genres. She has appeared with ensembles such as the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Brixton Chamber Orchestra, Pegasus Opera, and The Outcry Ensemble, performing at major venues including the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, and Royal Albert Hall. Charis has toured with Symphonica featuring DJ Mr Switch, performed on the KYGO World Tour at the O2 Arena, and featured on BBC Radio 3 with the BBC Singers. Her recent work with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra’s Developing Musicians scheme included performances at the Royal Albert Hall and recordings at Abbey Road and British Grove Studios.
A passionate chamber musician, Charis collaborates regularly with contemporary composers and performing artists and has a growing portfolio of recordings for string quartet. She has performed with violinist Vanessa Brooks-White since January 2024, appearing together at the Great Bowden Music Fest, Lumos Live Candlelight Concerts, and now at the London Sketch Club.
Vanessa Brooks-White (violin)
German-born violinist Vanessa, who holds both British and Canadian citizenship, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (MMus) and the Royal Northern College of Music (BMus Hons). She has appeared as a concerto soloist performing works by Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, and Mendelssohn, and has given numerous recitals around the UK. Vanessa freelances with orchestras including the Bliss Sinfonia, which she leads, and the Sheffield Repertoire Orchestra, and has performed at venues such as the Barbican, Kings Place, and Winchester Cathedral. As a dedicated chamber musician, she co-founded the Alegría Piano Trio and has collaborated with members of the Elias Quartet, Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, Maastricht Orchestra, and Philharmonia Orchestra.
Alongside her performing career, Vanessa is a passionate educator, teaching violin at Rugby School, Bilton Grange Preparatory School, and St Benedict’s School, Ealing. She is particularly committed to supporting young musicians with learning difficulties and fostering a love of music in all her students. Outside music, Vanessa enjoys travelling, hiking in the Black Forest where she was born, and spending time with her beloved dogs.
The London Sketch Club’s concerts aim to give promising musicians the opportunity to perform pieces of their choice in an informal setting while members and guests spend an enjoyable afternoon. The concert is relaxed, so music lovers of all ages are welcome. There will be music, tea, coffee and biscuits.
