Compassion Meditationwith Chaplain Letesa IslerTopic: My Personal Lessons in Compassion
Earlier this month, we gathered in awe and reverence around the sacred Sand Mandala, with Avalokiteśvara—the Bodhisattva of Compassion—at its center. The intricate design reminded us that compassion is both delicate and powerful: carefully cultivated, yet expansive enough to embrace all beings.
In this special follow-up session, Chaplain Letesa will offer a compassionate, grounded space to reflect together on how these teachings meet us in the realities of our lives right now. Drawing from her personal lessons in compassion—including difficult and complex stories —she will invite us to:
✨Reflect on the symbolism of the Sand Mandala and its teachings on interdependence and impermanence
✨ Explore Avalokiteśvara as the embodiment of boundless compassion
✨ Engage in guided meditation to awaken compassion within ourselves and extend it outward
✨ Consider how compassion can meet real‑world suffering, including stories that are painful, unsettling, or unresolved
✨ Discuss how to carry these insights into our daily lives and relationships
Avalokiteśvara represents the awakened heart—the ability to hear the cries of the world and respond with wisdom and love. This gathering is offered in a chaplaincy spirit: nonjudgmental, trauma‑aware, and welcoming of the full range of our human experience.
