About this Event
Our Community x Arts x Tech Meetup welcomes creatives and technologists from Bristol and beyond who already work with communities, as well as those who are curious about getting started.
This month's meetup is a collaboration between KWMC and Bristol Neurodivergent Artist Network. We'll be watching the film : The Stimming Pool together (70 mins) and then have a chat about the film afterwards with an optional tour of KWMC's Making Space.
NAIM is a creative network for South-west based neurodivergent artists. Sessions run on the first Wednesday of each month and are based at the Arnolfini. It has been set up by the arts charity Art in Motion, an organisation that collaborates with learning-disabled and neurodivergent artists to make artwork. To find out more or keep up to date with us, check out our Instagram.
More information about the film:
The Stimming Pool is an experimental—at times fantastical—hybrid feature film, co-created by a collective of autistic artists, the Neurocultures Collective, and filmmaker Steven Eastwood, who invite you into a neurodivergent world within the undulating logic of neurotypical environments. We hope by watching the film together, it might spark ideas, new projects we could do together.
More information about the screening:
The room will be set up with tables with craft supplies on, soft seating and bean bags for people to rest and watch the film, and stimming objects to use during the film. We also have an additional quiet room setup for anyone that needs it.
The tour of the Making Space at KWMC is optional for people to learn more about the making kit we have here at KWMC, and how to access the kit. We have a laser cutter, UV printer, 3D printer, digital embroidery machine, heat press, vinyl cutter and sewing machines available.
