About this Event
Description:
Got a phone, a curious mind and a love of Stockport? We want you.
We’re looking for six Community Story Stewards to join two audio storytelling workshops, gently guided by audio journalist Charlotte. Together, you’ll capture community and climate action stories of resilience as they happen, developing new creative and technical skills and exploring different ways of capturing and sharing stories through sound.
🌱 Tuesday Night Club (Tue 17 Nov, 6pm – 8:30pm)Join our gardener-led muck-ins as neighbours transform the car park and nearby green spaces into resilient urban gardens for the future.
🎬 Climate Cuts (Thu 19 Nov, 6pm – 8:30pm)Be part of our community cinema screenings, sharing films that inspire positive climate action.
What you’ll doYou’ll capture the sounds of the room and the living history emerging in the space, along with the voices, memories and hopes of the people who make these projects happen. Along the way, you’ll learn to:
- Record audio using your smartphone
- Interview people with confidence and care
- Document with notes and photos
- Discover what makes a compelling story
What happens nextYour recordings, photos and notes won’t sit on a hard drive. We’ll collate the pieces you create into short audio-visual works and share them through a future collaboration, so the stories you gather can reach and inspire others.
More than a workshopThese sessions are about bringing people together. You’ll have time to talk, share experiences, hear different points of view and get to know the rest of the group. Drawing on our own lives and the communities we’re part of, we’ll explore how personal stories connect us, reveal new perspectives and help shape a greener future for Stockport.
Who it’s forWhether you’ve got experience in storytelling or the arts, or you’re trying it for the first time, there’s a place for you. You might want to build your creative skills, grow your confidence, meet new people or simply try something different. Whatever brings you along, you’ll learn, share and discover the power of stories together.
Good to know
