Food Pantry Volunteer Team | Student Service Hours
Need community-service hours for school, a club, a program, or just want to give back? Come serve with us at The Rock Church in Elmhurst, Queens. 🙌
Our volunteer team helps prepare and operate our community food pantry while serving local families. You’ll stay active, work with other volunteers, and complete meaningful service hours.
No previous experience is required we’ll show you what to do when you arrive.
⏰ Volunteer Schedule
Monday–Friday
2:00 PM–6:00 PM
Come during the afternoon and help us prepare the pantry for upcoming distributions.
Weekday volunteers may help with:
🥫 Sorting food donations
📦 Packing food and grocery bags
🛒 Organizing and restocking pantry areas
🏷️ Sorting household items and supplies
🧹 Cleaning and organizing volunteer spaces
🚚 Preparing items for upcoming distributions
You do not have to stay for the entire four hours. Choose the time that works best for your schedule.
Sundays
Our Sunday shifts are scheduled around our food distributions so volunteers have plenty to do while they are here.
☀️ Morning Shift
11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Volunteers arrive at 11:00 AM to check in and help prepare for our first distribution, which begins around 11:30 AM.
You may help with:
📦 Preparing food and distribution stations
👋 Welcoming families
🥫 Distributing food
🛒 Restocking supplies
🧹 Organizing and cleaning after distribution
💙 Afternoon Shift
1:30 PM–6:00 PM
Volunteers arrive at 1:30 PM to prepare for our afternoon distribution, which begins around 3:00 PM.
You may help with:
📦 Setting up food and supplies
👋 Welcoming and directing families
🥫 Food distribution
🛒 Restocking stations
💙 Assisting families
🧹 Cleanup and organization
Please arrive at the beginning of your selected Sunday shift so we can check you in, give you an assignment, and get you started.

Yes — verified volunteer hours are available.
When you arrive:
✅ Check in with the volunteer team
✅ Record your arrival time
✅ Receive your assignment
✅ Check out before leaving
Your completed volunteer time will be recorded.
If your school requires a community-service form, signature, letter, or other verification, please bring the form with you or let our team know.
👟 What Should I Wear?
Come comfortable and ready to help.
We recommend:
👟 Sneakers or comfortable closed-toe shoes
👕 Comfortable clothing
Some volunteer assignments may involve standing, organizing boxes, packing food, or moving supplies.
💧 Snacks & Water
We provide water and light snacks for our volunteers during their service time. 💙
🤝 Can I Bring a Friend?
Absolutely!
Serving with a friend can make the experience even more fun. Each volunteer should register individually so we can properly record everyone's community-service hours.
