Mornington Peninsula Shire has updated its Community-led Projects Policy, formerly the Community Capital Infrastructure Policy, to create a clearer and more consistent way for the Shire to work with the community to turn local ideas into projects.
What’s changing?
The updated draft Policy aims to make it easier to understand how community project ideas can be considered, supported and, where appropriate, delivered in partnership with the community.
The changes include:
🤝 Stronger partnerships
We’ll work with you to explore ideas that could improve your local area.
🛤️ A clearer pathway
You’ll have a better understanding of how ideas are assessed, approved and progressed.
🔎 Greater transparency and consistency
Clearer information about eligibility, assessment, funding opportunities and approval requirements.
🌱 A stronger focus on community benefit
Community need, sustainability and local priorities will be considered when assessing project ideas.
🙌 Better support for community groups
Clearer guidance about requirements, approvals and available support to help get your project started or delivered.
What won’t change?
The Policy doesn’t mean Council will fund or approve every community project. Support will depend on available funding and resources, legal responsibilities and Council priorities.
Existing programs, services and capital works processes will also continue. If your idea already fits an existing process, it may be referred to the relevant Shire team.
