About this Event
Comics in the Community celebrates the unique ability of comics to connect people through stories, experiences, and creativity. Bringing together artists, educators, researchers, students, and community members, the event showcases how comics can build understanding, foster inclusion, and strengthen communities.
Including an exhibition of the work of K. Woodman Maynard
ICE Out Comics is a grassroots comics movement co-created by Woodman-MAynard with Jason Walz and Trung Le Nguyen in response to the surge of ICE activity in Minneapolis in early 2026. Artists were invited to share four-panel comics about the impact of ICE in their communities using a shared blue colour and the hashtag #iceoutcomics. Nearly 300 comics were created by artists across the country and around the world.
