About this Event
From illuminated manuscripts to Marvel's Magneto, Jewish creators have produced works that portray stories of the weak against the mighty, the single light illuminating the darkness, and the triumph of good over evil, through both text and image. Join Jordanna Conn from the University of Glasgow's Department of Text/Image Studies for a look at how in the wake of the Holocaust and subsequent rise of antisemitism, Jewish-coded comic book superheroes had their "real" identities hidden beneath the veneer of their all-American exteriors.
This event is part of the 2026-27 Harriet & Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center (KHC) and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Colloquium, “Storytelling in/as Resistance.”
