He’s a bestselling author — Freshman Class of Old Age, the novel The Maskers, and severaldevotionals — a longtime presence on late-night television, and the voice behind comedy albumsand specials streamed in the billions. (He also won NBC’s Last Comic Standing. That was a fewsocks ago.)
These days his focus is the stretch of life nobody warns you about — the careers that didn’t go asplanned, the aging parents, the grown kids, the back that goes out reaching for a sock.
