COMEDY & A CAMPAIGN: STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW📅 Friday, October 9
⏰ 7PM START
📍 Murph & Mary’s Pub — Newton, Iowa
Comedy & A Campaign brings Iowa Senate candidate Zach Mecham to the stage alongside three of Iowa’s funniest comics for a night of stand-up, stories, absurdity and plenty of jokes about the strange world of politics.
Zach says he became a comedian after his breakdancing career didn’t pan out — and then got into politics. He’ll be taking the stage alongside:
🎤 Lisa Rossi — comedian, journalist and writer whose material covers marriage, Midwestern life and the mysteries of Chardonnay and French fries. She has performed at comedy festivals around the country and completed the Groundlings Theatre Writing Lab.
🎤 Matthew Jacobsen — high-energy stand-up comedian armed with stories and absurdity. Matthew won the 2024 Funniest Person in Iowa contest and received the Nate Cockerill Stage Performance Award at the 2022 Cleveland Comedy Festival.
🎤 Dan Umthun — longtime Des Moines comedy fixture, producer and performer. Dan has been involved in Iowa’s comedy scene for years, including Underground Comedy and the Beast Village Comedy Festival.
And of course, Zach Mecham taking the mic.
Come out for a night where civics gets silly.
