About this Event
Honoring Our Veterans at the Columbarium The Columbarium Flag Placement is a vital part of our annual memorial traditions. This role is dedicated specifically to the columbarium walls where our veterans are interred. It is a deeply personal and respectful way to ensure every hero is recognized and honored.
Important Physical Considerations Please be aware that this volunteer position is more physically demanding than standard ground-level flag placement. Due to the layout of the columbarium niches, volunteers should be prepared for:
- Repetitive Bending & Kneeling: Placing flags at the lower tiers of the wall requires constant stooping and kneeling.
- Hard Surfaces: You will be working on concrete and stone walkways for the duration of the event.
- Manual Dexterity: Handling small flag stakes and ensuring they are securely placed in the gravel or designated holders.
Recommended Gear: To ensure your comfort, we highly recommend that volunteers bring:
- Knee Pads or Kneeling Cushions: Essential for comfort on the hard pavement.
- Comfortable Footwear: Sturdy walking shoes or sneakers.
- Weather Protection: Sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.
Why Volunteer? The columbarium niches represent thousands of lives dedicated to our country. By placing a flag at each niche, we send a powerful message that their sacrifice is never forgotten. This task requires a meticulous hand and a servant's heart, and we thank you for your commitment to our veteran community.
