Have you ever wondered how artists seem to know exactly which colors to mix? This small, hands-on class is perfect for anyone who has never studied color mixing or made their own color wheel—as well as artists who want to deepen their understanding or refresh their skills. We’ll be working with professional-quality Golden Artist Colors acrylics as we build our own color wheels and explore primary, secondary, intermediate, and complementary colors. But we’ll go beyond the basic color wheel by comparing what happens when we mix with different primaries: Cadmium Red Medium versus Alizarin Crimson, Diarylide Yellow versus Cadmium Yellow Medium, and Cerulean Blue Chromium versus Phthalo Blue (Green Shade). You’ll see firsthand how simply changing your red, yellow, or blue can completely change the colors you’re able to create. With only six people in the class, there will be plenty of individual guidance, experimentation, and time to really understand what’s happening on your palette.Limited to 6 participants
