Collin County: Looking Local - District Attorney Willis They say all politics are local, and we agree! Local governments are where you have the biggest chance to have an impact on policy decisions, taxes, and how your community operates. This session will take a close look at the local District Attorney office, helping us to understand the actual statutory role of this entity, and the best way to engage with this department. We will be joined by Collin County DA Greg Willis, so that you can get answers to your questions about your local government.

About Greg Willis:
Greg Willis is a nationally recognized prosecutor and fifth-generation Texan who has served as Collin County’s District Attorney since 2011. He leads a team of 153 dedicated professionals committed to protecting families and upholding justice. Twice named a Texas Super Lawyer®, he has served as an officer of the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and is President of its Foundation Board.
Delivering on his priorities of protecting the innocent, locking up violent criminals, child predators, and drug traffickers, and strengthening the community through justice done the right way, Willis has earned statewide and national recognition for his leadership in keeping communities safe. Among his honors is the Leadership in the Prevention of Terrorism Award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police — one of law enforcement’s highest international distinctions — awarded for his successful prosecution of a terrorist targeting Stonebriar Mall.
He was also the only Texas prosecutor appointed to the National Opioids Task Force. Locally, he has been honored with the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal, Child Advocate of the Year, and multiple awards for leadership supporting victims of domestic violence. He created Texas’s first DA-led opioid treatment diversion program and launched “Burden to Blessing,” a responsibility-based second-chance initiative that helps nonviolent offenders rebuild their lives and contribute to our community.
