About this Event

We are thrilled to be welcoming Colleen Temple back to the Purple Couch to celebrate the release of The Lie She Keeps. The ticket price of $21.24 includes the book for the cover price plus MA State Sales Tax.

Colleen will be discussing this suspenseful look at secrets, control, motherhood, fertility, trauma and healing with her sister, Meg O'Neill, followed by a Q&A and signing.

For fans of Local Woman Missing and The Family Upstairs, and for readers of domestic suspense and book club fiction, The Lie She Keeps follows Ivy Rhodes who grew up in a cult where men led, and women bred. She was taught to be quiet, to comply, to be good. Until she could no longer stomach the life she was forced to live. Until she ran.

After her escape, she buried her painful past and built a new life in Vermont. A beautiful, quiet life with a family, a home, and a place to belong.

But the fragile normalcy Ivy fought for shatters when women start disappearing in her small, sleepy town. Schools close. New neighbors draw unsettling attention. Fear tightens its grip on the community. And everything Ivy hears sounds eerily like her childhood: the coercion, the silence, the doubt. Her need for answers becomes obsession. Is it paranoia? Or is it the instinct she's carried all along: that the people who stole her childhood will never truly let her go?

This quiet life was supposed to keep her family safe. Now Ivy must decide how far she'll go to protect them, and whether the girl she used to be is the only one who can.

Colleen Temple is the author of Summer Breakdown, her debut women’s fiction novel. Former essays editor at Motherly, current mother to three lively and creative children. Married to Colin, they are raising their family on the North Shore of Massachusetts. This is her second novel.
