Indigenous Peoples Day Collage Workshop: Art, Reflection & Connection
Instructed by: Mer Metztli Citlali (B.F.A., Multidisciplinary Artist and Muralist).
Join us for a creative and inspiring collage workshop in recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day. Through the art of collage, participants will explore storytelling, identity, memory, and connection while learning foundational techniques including composition, sourcing materials, montage, and assemblage.
This hands-on workshop welcomes all skill levels and offers guided demonstrations throughout the session. Participants will experiment with cutting, layering, arranging, and combining images and materials to create meaningful personal artworks.
Beyond artistic skill-building, collage offers powerful mental health and emotional wellness benefits. The creative process provides a low-pressure, tactile outlet for self-expression that can help reduce stress, encourage mindfulness, improve focus, and support the processing of complex emotions. Working with images, textures, and found materials allows participants to engage in reflection and discovery without the need for advanced artistic experience.
Whether you're new to collage or an experienced maker, this workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, connect with your creativity, and honor the resilience, stories, and cultural contributions of Indigenous peoples through the transformative process of art-making.
